Camp Union
I haven't wrote in a while, but I don't think anyone is really reading this yet anyways. Feel free to leave a comment anytime.
I just got home from Kentucky. We always have our family reunion the weekend of Independance Day. But last week I was at the best camp in the world, Camp Union. I think this was my 8th time going, and I've loved it every time. Before I tell you about this last week, I first have to give you a little bit of a background of the camp.
I was ten the first time I went. I went to the junior high week. I had already been to Camp Caleb a few years before (another church camp), so I was expecting a huge, ginormous camp with really nice cabins, a game room, a really nice dining hall, a creek and the blob, trails through the woods, full blown swimming pools... I got none of this. Instead we came to a little place in between corn fields and beanfields in the middle of nowhere. There was a total of seven buildings not including the storage buildings towards the back. All of the buildings were paint chipped with no AC. We had one building with two girls dorms on the top floor and a kitchen on the bottom floor. We had two seperate boys dorms, Alpha and Bravo. We had a little book nook and snack shack, which is exactly what they was, a tabernacle (a barn with benches and a stage) and a McGinis Building (same thing but for fun things.) As soon as I got my bunk set up I started crying, not believing what I had gotten myself into, but one of the councelors came up to me and was determined to introduce me to every single person in the camp, and she did. I found in that little run down camp an amazing place of God and my love for writing. I do believe I've already told that story, so I won't repeat it.
But this year, we had different directors. Everything changes when the directors change, but it was still so amazing. I actually broke out of my shell this year and got really close to a group of brothers and sisters in Christ. We were inseperable. I never did like the clique thing at camp, but you can't call it that really. We didn't deny anyone the right to join us or anything, but during our Bible studies and things, we got into some deep conversations about the Bible and Science and what is truly going on around us, and we got into some really personal stuff. I have never had that kind of oppertunity at camp until this year. It was such an amazing experience.
Oh, and I sang and played my guitar for the talent show. I'm not bragging, but I was suprised at how many complements I got from complete strangers, but I have had a lot of practice over the past year. People at my mom's church makes me sing every time I'm there. We also went reppelling and I almost fell going over the cliff. I have never been so scared in my life. And I went kiaking. Two of my friends went canoeing and I had a hard time staying back with them. They kept on running into trees and stuff, but once they got the hang of it, we splashed each other all the way to our meeting place. We was way to far behind to try to beat everybody, so we just had fun. For all of you that have never been to Camp Union, I strongly suggest that you go next year if it is at all possible. I will post all that info next year as soon as I get it. So there was my week. If I had my pictures, I would post some, but I haven't had the chance to get them developed. I will though in the near future. So that is it for today. God Bless.
